Stone Temple Pilots Announce New Vocalist

After the 2013 split between vocalist Scott Weiland and bandmates Robert & Dean DeLeo, the future of one of the biggest rock bands of 1990s seemed uncertain. Shortly after, the DeLeo brothers hired Chester Bennington of Linkin Park fame to take singing duties, and enjoyed a few years of success before Bennington’s unfortunate passing earlier this year. Not long before that we lost Weiland himself in 2015, further adding. to the uncertainty and tragedy of STP.

Now, it appears the band is prepared to continue with a new vocalist, Jeff Gutt who had a bit of earlier exposure on “X Factor USA”. After rehearsals were held over a year ago, the band finally announced the move during a private show in their native Los Angeles. Gutt comes from the singing school of Weiland, even stating “I was studying Scott when I was coming into singing myself and I learned so much from (listening) to him.” While the band will never be the same without the iconic voice and presence of Scott Weiland, here’s to Gutt and the founding members continuing the music authenticity and honor.

Stone Temple Pilots do not currently have any shows on their calendar, however related a new song, “Meadow”, with Jeff Gutt. Listen to it here:
